Attiki Odos

The regional motorway Attiki Odos is a part of pan-European transport network, as planned by the European Union. It stretches over a distance of 70km and connects 30 municipalities of the Attica basin. It is the base of the metropolitan Athens transport network and serves the needs of millions of people on an annual basis.

Attiki Odos is an urban motorway with three lanes per direction and an emergency lane. In the center, it has a special partition section serving the suburban railway, which has been built and is operated by a different carrier. There are 28 twin tunnels along the motorway.

Algosystems undertook the study, design, installation and commissioning of the following:

  • Integration of open road SCADA and tunnel subsystems in 28 twin tunnels with a total length of 15km.
  • Linear fire detection system in 22 tunnels
  • Street lighting and irrigation control systems
  • One (1) Central Traffic Control Center
