New Orbital Highway & Truck Route (P023) Contract 1 – New Doha Port to Orbital Highway

The project is located southwest of the city of Doha in the New Doha Port (NDP) and connects the Al Wakrah-Mesaieed motorway to the east-west artery on the north side, the Al Wakrah bypass to the east and the peripheral motorway to the west. Algosystems Qatar undertook the design and construction of a new motorway consisting of 45km of road network and four junctions J15, J16, J17 and J18. The main road consists of four lanes per direction with vertical roads, auxiliary roads, overground and underground crossings, side walls, pedestrian streets and cycle tracks, traffic signs, traffic systems, surrounding area and buildings, road lighting and related infrastructure.

The successful deployment and operation of Intelligent Transport Systems plays an important role in meeting all of the motorway’s operational specifications. Specifications, as shown below, are defined by the Public Authority and Bodies, and follow international standards relating to:

  • Road safety
  • Increased mobility / Reduction of transportation times
  • Reduction of rapid response times / Improvement of incident detection
  • Environmental policy
  • Traffic information in real time
